AsterwynThe tester's companion

A little time.
A useful clue.

Your current Read Me First: a few good missions through the published Playtest Repairs release. Choose what suits your character and your evening.

Published · ready for playtest

Before you set out

01

Arrive ready.

Let the NWSync download finish. Use your usual client settings and audible dialogue. The journal’s case has the exact arrival directions.

02

Use the real thing.

The Tester’s Compass gets you to the start. Use the actual door, passage, counter or service for the action being tested.

03

Keep your own pace.

Open the case before you begin. A short, honest observation is useful; a route is not a batch of automatic passes.

Choose your evening

Three small journeys.

Approximate time, including room for notes. Each underlined stop opens its own check in the private journal.

15minutes / approx.

The wallet
and the forge.

  1. Open your written wallet. Compare Advanced, cancel a preview, then close and reopen. Looking should spend nothing.
  2. Visit Bramm’s salvage barrel and forge. Inspect an ordinary item. Cancel once; confirm salvage or crafting only when you want the transaction.

About 11 minutes of checks, with time to walk and write a note.

Before you start: Bring an unwanted, unequipped ordinary item and any resources needed for a recipe. A preview-only visit does not certify crafting.

30minutes / approx.

One visit
to the Games.

  1. Try the readable Games controls. Compare Red and Blue, inspect Advanced and return.
  2. Follow one match and a deliberate small wager. Read the price; check the single charge and settlement.
  3. Keep the live scoreboard in view. Compare a phase change, reopen it, then leave the area.

About 26 minutes of checks. Record what you observed if the match runs longer.

Before you start: Allow for the betting window and a variable match length. Only wager gold you are happy to spend.

60minutes / approx.

Mercy to
the Lantern.

  1. Begin in Mercy: the wallet and Bramm’s forge.
  2. Enter the Open Lantern: find the counter and try a stool, then follow Jessa’s paid-room escort. Interrupt her once without buying a second booking.
  3. Finish at the Games: controls, one small wager and the scoreboard.

About 46 minutes of checks, leaving time for travel and notes. This is a useful circuit, not the whole release.

Before you start: Have 8 gold for the room, the intended wager and any crafting resources. Use the actual inn entrance for its service check.

Only have a few minutes at the Games? Try the controls and the lighting. A daylight visit does not settle the night-light portion.

Choose the next
useful stop.

Open a place below for its focused repair checks. Pick one; this is a menu of possibilities, not a tour of every map.

Mercy Square

Start at the square. Leave a little room for people to reach their work.

A simple written wallet4 min

Open, compare and cancel. Gold, materials and essence balances should agree.

Inspect salvage, then craft7 min

Use an unwanted unequipped item. A confirmed salvage consumes it; previews do not.

Quiet edges, friendly dogs4 min

Let wildlife appear while you visit. Non-dog animals belong near the edges; dogs can mingle and respond when clicked.

The Open Lantern

A normal visit is enough. Treat bookings and intentional activities as real.

An obvious publican and clear counter4 min

Walk the customer approach, try a stool and speak with Tamsin.

Jessa remembers the room you paid for5 min

An available room costs 8 gold. Interrupt once; the booking and escort should survive.

Give a stranded traveller a moment3 min

Only if someone really seems stuck: leave them untouched for 30–60 seconds. Seated diners and performers are not failed routes.

The Lantern Games

Use the spectator entrance. A match gives the lighting and controls their context.

Readable choices and separate Advanced5 min

Try the panel on your usual PC or Steam Deck. Previewing, resizing or cancelling spends no gold.

No visible lanterns on the Games grounds4 min

Look across the field and bar. Night battle light comes from invisible sources; note the time and viewing position.

Shrine and temple

Two separate destinations; use the case’s Find your way directions.

Thael’s finished task stays finished5 min

Use your existing quest state. The sluice is east of the Returning Light basin; after clearing or completion, the old inspection offer should be absent. Never reset a completed quest just to test.

A clearly closed Glimmer doorway4 min

Two armoured sentries and a locked door explain the closure. Ordinary care remains available. Do not bypass the barrier.

Life along the way

Choose an encounter that fits the hour. These are opportunities, not appointments.

Weather and believable shelter5 min

When rain occurs, watch civilians and a soldier. Note the in-game time; no rain during a short visit is not a defect. Enable client weather effects to observe them.

Meet the Ashbasket keepers5 min

Find Thim, Tikka or Nib on their rounds or at their Hall nook. Hear a conversation; observe service-rubbish collection or separate sleeping spots only when the opportunity appears.

The right moment

The world has
its own timetable.

  • Rain and storms: observe them when they occur. Weather can remain the same across decisions. Do not wait indefinitely for a change.
  • Night routines: record the in-game time. A daytime conversation cannot certify sleeping or night battle light.
  • Traffic and cleanup: watch an actual stranded traveller or eligible service litter. Do not block people, scatter valuables or provoke animals to force a scene.
  • Voice and atmosphere: compare the person’s visible words with what you hear. One line is an observation of that line, not acceptance of every recording.

Another day, a deeper visit

Stay with one story.

The wider catalogue remains available. These two paths deserve a little more attention than a quick repair circuit.

Prepared-character option

The next step
at Mercy’s training hall.

The Hall of Reflection is in Mercy Square. Its public foyer is open; instruction beyond the inner door requires XP for your next level.

2 → 35 → 68 → 9

Use natural XP, or a deliberately disposable test character with XP granted manually by a DM. No reset of an established character or quest is needed. There is no current-level catch-up challenge.

Before a reflection, record level, XP, gold and equipped items. Leave room for unequipping and let temporary spell effects expire. Nobody needs to lose deliberately.

Entry and instruction · A won milestone · Recovery after a natural defeat

If recovery displays a held receipt, stop and report its wording. Do not trade or discard items to work around it.

Leave a clue

Small notes.
Clear evidence.

Save a result for what you actually tried. Keep missing conditions visible instead of turning a partial visit into a full pass.

01

Where and what?

Name the place, NPC or button. Describe the last action, what happened and what you expected. For a visual problem, include time, device and viewing position.

02

Show the moment.

Add a screenshot or trimmed clip to the report. Text saves first. Up to five files, 80 MB each; attachments stay inside the signed-in tester journal.

03

Keep the distinction.

Fix delivered means the repair was published. Fix checked and Passed in play need an actual player observation.

What this guide can promise

The release is published and ready to explore. How it looks, sounds and feels in your client is still yours to discover.

Focused native checks and publication evidence are recorded in the release notes. They are not a substitute for human visual, listening, crafting or combat acceptance. Game development remains paused while the next feedback is selected.
